Navigation Menu
This article explains how to customize the navigation menu in your platform. While a default menu is provided, you have the flexibility to add new menu items and hide existing ones (excluding the "homepage" button at the top).
Understanding Navigation
The navigation menu allows users to easily access different sections and external resources from within the platform. By customizing it, you can tailor the user experience to best suit your community's needs.
Adding Custom Menu Elements
You can add menu elements that link to specific URLs. Follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Navigation Section: From your Dashboard, locate the "Navigation" section and click on the "add an element" button. A new window will appear.
- Select Language(s): Choose the language(s) for which this menu item should be visible. The new item will only be displayed to users whose language preferences match your selection.
- External Links: If the link points to a website outside of the platform, check the option "Open the link in a new tab".
- Set the Position: Define the position of your new menu element within the navigation. Elements with a lower numerical value will appear higher in the menu, closer to the default items. For example, entering "1" will place it just below the "homepage" button.
- Filter by Diffusion List (Optional): If you have previously created diffusion lists, you can select one to control which users or groups can see and access this new menu item.
- Enter the Menu Title: Provide a clear and concise title for your menu element. Remember to translate the title if you have selected multiple languages to ensure it displays correctly for all users.
- Enter the Target URL: Input the complete web address (URL) that this menu item should link to.
- Add an Icon (Optional): Provide the URL of an icon to visually represent your menu element. This can be an external link. We can also provide access to an icon library upon request. Please contact us if you need assistance.
- Add the Element: Click on the "Add element" button to save your new menu item.

- Manage Your Navigation: Your newly created menu section will now appear in the "Navigation" section. From here, you can edit, delete, or add more custom menu elements by repeating the steps above.

Important Note: Complete Menu Customization
You have the ability to fully customize your platform's menu. This can be achieved by hiding all default content types and exclusively using custom menu elements to create a completely tailored navigation experience.
