Create and launch a challenge

Launching an innovation challenge via our platform allows customers to harness the collective intelligence of their community, fostering a culture of innovation by engaging employees, partners, or customers to contribute creative solutions to specific problems or opportunities. This not only accelerates the innovation process but also ensures that the best ideas are surfaced and recognized, driving tangible value and growth for the organization.

Creating a Challenge

As an Administrator Level 4, you can create and launch an Innovation Challenge directly from the Dashboard. Follow these steps to set up a new challenge:

  • Log In: Access your account using your credentials.
  • Access Dashboard: Navigate to the Dashboard, which serves as your main workspace.
  • Find Challenges Section: In the left-side menu, locate and click on "Challenges" to open the Challenges page.
  • Create a New Challenge:
    • Click the "Create" button located in the top right-hand corner.

      • Choose a start and end date for your challenge.
      • Add a cover picture to make it visually appealing.
      • Enter a title and description to explain the purpose of the challenge.

    • Define Participation Settings:
      • Select who can access the challenge and submit ideas (e.g., specific teams or the entire company).
      • Choose the content type for idea submissions (e.g., text, images, videos).
        • If needed, you will be able to set up a custom challenge form later.

    • Enable Email Notifications (Optional): Decide if automated email notifications should be sent to participants.
    • Set Up Moderation & Incentives:
      • Define if submitted ideas need to be moderated before being published.
      • Optionally, set up a prize or incentive for participants.
    • Save and Launch: Save your settings and launch your challenge.

Editing/Managing a Challenge

To make changes to an existing challenge or manage its settings, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to Challenges Section: From the Dashboard, click on "Challenges" in the left-side menu to view all available challenges.
  • Select a Challenge: Click on the challenge you wish to edit to view its details.
  • Edit Challenge Settings:
    • Click the "Edit" button to modify the settings of your challenge.
    • Make the necessary changes to the challenge details, participation settings, or custom form.
    • Save Changes: After editing, save your changes to update the challenge.

Managing Votes & Prizes (Optional)

Customers have the ability to set up a voting session after receiving submissions to the challenge. Here's how to manage votes and prizes:

  • Set Up a Voting Session:
    • Schedule Voting: Set a voting session to occur immediately or schedule it for a future date.
    • Votes per User: Specify the number of votes each user can cast. Note that users cannot vote for their own submissions.
  • Open Voting:
    • Immediate Voting: Open the voting session right away.
    • Future Voting: Schedule the voting session to begin at a later date.
  • Add Prizes:
    • Navigate to Prizes Section: Scroll down to the "Prizes" section within your challenge setup.
    • Create Prizes: Add an unlimited number of prizes to reward the best ideas. For each prize, provide a title, description, and a small photo or illustration.
    • Save Prizes: Ensure all prize details are saved.

  • Monitor Voting:
    • Track Progress: Keep track of the voting process from the Dashboard > Content section and ensure that participants are engaged and voting according to the guidelines.
  • Allocating Prizes to Winning Submissions:
    • After the voting session has concluded, manually select the winners.
    • Access Challenges Section: Go to the "Challenges" section in the left-side menu.
    • View Challenges Awaiting Winners: You will see a list of all existing challenges awaiting the final winners.
    • Choose a Winner: Click the "Choose a Winner" button for the relevant challenge.
    • Review Submissions: The challenge will open, displaying a list of submitted content sorted by the number of votes, likes, and comments by default.
    • Allocate a Prize:
      • Click on a piece of content to select it.
      • Click the "Actions" button and choose "Assign a Prize."
      • If you have multiple prizes, select the one you want to award.

Concluding the Challenge

By default, when creating a challenge, you need to specify an end date. When you reach the end date, the challenge will close automatically, and submissions will no longer be authorized. Any content that was successfully posted and validated (provided that you set up moderation previously) can still be viewed by anyone with read access to the section of the platform.

Pro Tip: Reopening a Closed Challenge

If a challenge has finished and you need to reopen it, you can do so by using a simple trick:

  • Navigate to Challenges Section: From the dashboard, go to the "Challenges" section and select the closed challenge.
  • Edit URL: Once selected, go into your web browser's address bar and append /edit to the URL.
  • Reopen and Edit: You will now be able to reopen the challenge and edit its settings if needed.
